Greece's economic sentiment index edged higher in June, rising to 108.3 points from 107.7 in May, according to the latest economic climate survey released by the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE).
The improvement was driven by stronger expectations in retail trade and services, while sentiment in industry and construction weakened slightly. Consumer confidence remained broadly unchanged from the previous month.
In construction, the upward trend recorded in recent months came to a halt, mainly due to weaker sentiment in private-sector building activity. Retail trade, by contrast, posted a notable improvement, supported by moderately optimistic assessments of current and future sales.
The services sector recorded a marked increase in confidence, reflecting more positive expectations across all components of the sector's indicator.
In industry, however, expectations for production over the coming months weakened significantly.
On the household side, Greek consumers expressed slightly more optimistic views regarding their personal financial situation and the country's broader economic outlook compared with the previous month. However, intentions to make major purchases declined sharply, leaving overall consumer confidence unchanged.
