Extensive damage to homes and infrastructure was reported on the Greek island of Salamina after a wildfire on Sunday killed two elderly people and burned a large area of forest.
The heaviest damage was reported in the Peristeria area, where the bodies of an elderly couple were found.
Homes and vehicles were damaged, while parts of the electricity and telecommunications networks were affected.
Inspections by Greece's Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection are due to begin on the island, with teams from the General Directorate for the Restoration of Natural Disaster Effects assessing damage in cooperation with the municipality of Salamina.
The government aims to begin the restoration process as soon as possible and provide compensation to those affected, Deputy Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Kostas Katsafados said as he travelled to the island.
